Today we bring you the final installment in our focus of SDS Scottish Apprenticeship Week and it’s the turn of Altree Joinery’s, Thomas Mason.
Covering the Isle of Skye and the Highlands, Altree provide the perfect platform for local boy Thomas to hone his skills as he looks to build on the solid footing provided by the Portree based firm.
He said: “I enjoy it very much. The fact I know the area helps me a lot and I feel comfortable in my working environment.”
Similarly, Thomas was quick to praise the influence of his workmates on helping him find his feet and points to the close-knit community as a factor in assisting him on the road to success.
He added: “The Isle of Skye is the perfect place for me to learn my trade and I think the community feel transcends to the building site. Everyone works together to get the job done and I’d like to think I contribute to that, too.”
Looking closely at the day-to day routine, Thomas likes the variety of the job and feels different locations keep him motivated and looking forward to the daily challenges.
“Every day offers something different. Skye and the Highlands in general provide one of the most scenic office windows – if the weather is favourable! You never quite know what you’re going to get”, he exclaimed.
Altree promise more than 25 years of experience in the building and joinery sector and with the likes of Thomas likely to forge a successful career, the company’s vow to provide a reliable and professional service, ensuring work of a very high standard looks set to continue.
“They’re excellent to work for”, said Thomas. “Every job is carried out professionally with the needs and wants of the client at the forefront of what we do.”
